Dear Competitors, Coaches and Officials, On behalf of USA Karate, I would like to invite you to join us at the 2018 USA Open Karate Championships & Junior International Cup. This prestigious event continues to grow every year and brings some of the top karate talent in the world together to exemplify their immense discipline and skill. The host of this year’s 2018 USA Open Karate Championships & Junior International Cup is the world famous Paris Las Vegas Hotel and Casino. This Las Vegas resort offers world-class gaming, shopping, dining and an unparalleled hotel experience. Each year, this event shows that it is capable of even more surprises and excitement than the year before, and 2018 will be no different. On March 29th, Mr. Escalante will be reviewing the WKF rule changes during our referee course. On March 30th, USA Karate will be hosting the Junior International Cup. This event offers divisions for athletes of all skill levels under the age of 18. There is a division for everyone and is a great developmental event for junior athletes. The USA Open will immediately follow the Junior International Cup on March 31st and April 1st; two very exciting and competitive tournaments in the same weekend! The USA Open will include Para-Karate divisions. The 2018 USA Open Championships will once again be one of the premier karate and para-karate events in the world. Already considered as one of the best tournaments held each year, this year’s USA Open will continue to grow and build off of the excitement and success of last year’s event. 2018 Junior International Cup We are excited to once again offer the Junior International Cup. Attendees will review the latest WKF rules. USA Karate Referee/Judge Certification USA Karate will host a Referee/Judge certification course on Thursday, March 29th. Domestic attendees will be issued certifications up to USA Karate Kumite Referee A and Kata Judge A. Please contact the National Office via email if you require assistance in this matter. WKF officials with Kata and Kumite A licenses, may participate in the course at no cost. Referee/Judge Certification Fee (Covers both Courses): $200 Course Audit Fee (no Certification): $50 Late Fees will be applied starting March 21st at 11:59 pm MST Late Fee - $50 Referees who choose not to participate in the certification courses, but are attending the championships, are required to register online at usakarateopen.com PLEASE NOTE: All domestic Officials must be a current member of USA Karate and have met the conditions of membership (SafeSport Training & NCSI Background Check). USA Karate Coaches Credential (Domestic Coaches) The coaching credential is your access pass to everything at the event. Each coach will need one to have access to the competition floor. Each coach must be a current member of USA Karate and have met the conditions of membership (SafeSport Training & NCSI Background Check) PRIOR to registration. Payment for the Coaching Credential is also required prior to the competition. USA KARATE IS COMMITED TO THE SAFE SPORT PROGRAM. THESE REQUIREMENTS ARE FOR THE SAFETY AND PROTECTION OF THE ATHLETES, COACHES AND OFFICIALS TAKING PART IN THE COMPETITION. Coaching Credential Registration: $125 Seminars – Details Coming Soon Registration Fee per seminar : $75 International Delegations All international delegations with 10 or more athletes will be presented with the following upon arrival: • One (1) VIP Credential for the Head of Delegation. • Two (2) Invited Guest Credentials. • One (1) Coaches Credential for every 5 registered athletes. • Additional Credentials are available upon request and approval. International Delegations need not be the official representatives of a National Federation. USA Karate reserves the right to determine what constitutes a delegation and may deny or revoke a delegation’s privileges at its sole discretion. International Athlete Insurance All international competitors competing in either competition must provide their own accident and medical insurance. USA Karate does not provide any medical or accident insurance for international athletes. By participating in this event, International competitors are acknowledging that they have their own medical and accident insurance. Rules of Competition Both the USA Open and Junior International Cup competitions will utilize the current World Karate Federation Rules of Competition.
