Hello Everyone . . .

It’s hard to believe that we are half way through the year! We’ve had some great improvement already and looking forward to more in the next half of the year.

Auckland Regional Karate Championships 2009

Recently 39 Fushin Ryu karate Students competed in the Auckland Champs. There were some excellent performances and again some big improvements since the last tournament. FRK Students won 22 of the 31 gold medals on offer. For full results check out the tournament page on the website.

Club Kata Tournament June 09

80 competitors took part in the recent dojo tournament at Archers Rd Dojo.  This is one of the largest turnouts to date.  We encourage students to take part in these tournaments as it helps to build confidence in performing in front of an audience as well as giving the lower grades the opportunity to observe the higher grades performing some of the more advanced kata.

We have 7 club tournaments each year, 4 kata and 3 kumite. These are free for Fushin Ryu karate members so please make the most of them.

The top 5 placegetters receive points. These are totalled at the end of the year with the top three placegetters winning prizes.

Check out the latest results and the placings after the years first 3 tournaments.

Gradings

Gradings are always a tough time for instructors. We are all very keen for our students to grade up, sometimes it seems we are keener than the students! We look at the long term and we have found that getting the standard as high as possible while the students are beginning makes it much easier for them in the future. We only put forward the students we are sure have the best chance of passing, even this is no guarantee of success and sometimes more work is required.

There will be a gradings on:

  • Saturday 4th July from 9.30am
  • Thursday 9h July from 3.30pm
  • Sunday 19th July from 10am and 2pm

If your Sensei thinks you are ready you will be given a grading form, you do not need to ask. If you have not been training regularly (whether you know the syllabus or not) you will not be considered for grading.

Sugihara Cup Karate Championships

The organization for the 3rd Sugihara Cup is underway! Exciting news, Nishimura sensei will be taking seminars on the Friday night before the tournament. Entry forms are available on line now, check out the Home page for details. We are still looking for sponsors to help with the tournament, interested? know someone who would be? Let your sensei know please.

Any questions please email duane@fushinryukarate.org.nz or phone 476 2 476
